Gum disease is a serious condition that can lead to significant discomfort, bleeding, and tooth loss. Left untreated, it can also increase your risk of heart disease and other conditions.
If you notice gum irritation, redness, or increased dental sensitivity, you should schedule a dental appointment as soon as possible. Other symptoms of periodontitis include:
REGULAR EXAMS AND CLEANINGS
You may assume you should have a dental check-up every 6 months, but some people may not need to go so often and others may need more frequent checks.
Your dentist will suggest when you should have your next check-up based on how good your oral health is.
Regular exams are an important part of maintaining your oral health. Leaving problems untreated could make them more difficult to treat in the future, so it’s best to deal with problems early, or, if possible, prevent them altogether.
During your regular exam, we will:
Check for any problems that you may not see or feel
Look for cavities or any other signs of tooth decay
Inspect your teeth and gums for gingivitis and signs of periodontal disease
Give you advice on, your diet, smoking and alcohol use, and teeth-cleaning habits.
A crown is used to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth. Crowns strengthen damaged teeth, allowing them to function normally again. When crafted from today’s high-tech porcelains (dental ceramics), crowns are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. They can even be designed to improve upon a tooth’s original appearance.
Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to shift resulting in a bad bite. This can also lead to gum disease and TMJ disorders. Bridges and crowns help prevent this from happening.
Bridges are commonly used if you’re missing one or more teeth. They cover the space where the teeth are missing and are cemented to natural teeth or implants surrounding the space.
Take a moment to consider the importance of pediatric dentistry. keep your child’s teeth strong and healthy- even their primary, or “baby” teeth.
We strongly recommend that children begin to visit the dentist for routine dental visits around the age of 3. This is approximately when all primary teeth have erupted.
Keeping your child’s primary teeth healthy is important for many reasons.
We can provide fluoride treatments and place sealants, when necessary, to help protect teeth.
Our staff can also make recommendations to parents about at home care and other important topic such as thumb sucking, orthodontics, and wisdom teeth.
Are you the right candidate for implants?
An ideal candidate for a dental implant should have good general as well as oral health. Patients should have healthy gums and enough bone to hold the implant in place. They must also maintain good oral hygiene and be regular for dental visits
If there are two words that can strike fear into the heart of every adult, they are: root canal.
But the truth is, there are a lot of misconceptions about what a root canal is, and why they are needed. The good news is, if you keep up the right habits, may never need one at all. Root canal treatment is a routine dental procedure needed when the blood or nerve supply of a tooth (pulp) becomes infected due to tooth decay or any injury.
Modern technology and the use of anesthetics make this procedure quick, safe, typically pain-free, and an excellent way to help save the natural tooth. However, to avoid needing root canal treatment, anyone who has a toothache should see a dentist promptly to prevent any infection from getting worse.
How a Root Canal is Performed: Step by Step
The dentist administers local anesthesia to numb the tooth . After the tooth is numb, the endodontist might place a dental dam, a small sheet of rubber that isolates the tooth to keep it clean and dry during the procedure.
Your dentist will then use very small tools to access the inside of the tooth by creating an opening in the top portion of the tooth. Next, he will use small files to clear away the damaged and diseased pulp from the inside of the tooth
Once the chamber is thoroughly cleaned and dried, the endodontist will fill it. A rubber-like material called gutta percha is often used. Your dentist will close the opening in your tooth with a temporary filling, while you wait for the permanent crown. After a few weeks, your dentist will finish the treatment by placing a permanent crown on the tooth.
Teeth whitening is by far the most popular cosmetic dental procedure.
Let us put the sparkle back into your smile! Our whitenings are both easy and non-invasive, and you can remove years of stain and color from your teeth in a single, one-hour treatment.
There are two options for teeth whitening 1st is to get it done at dental clinic and 2nd at home.
IN-OFFICE TEETH WHITENING
The first professional option is commonly referred to as in-office whitening. This procedure is performed in a dental office. During an appointment, your dental professional will apply a whitening gel to the surface of your teeth. The entire office visit generally takes about 90 minutes and you will be able to see results immediately.
Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth and how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of your teeth, gums and jaw joints.
Many people have crowded or crooked teeth. Orthodontic treatment will straighten the teeth or move them into a better position. This can significantly improve their appearance
An orthodontist can carry out work that aims to achieve the following :
closing wide gaps between the teeth
aligning the tips of the teeth
straightening crooked and malpositioned teeth
improving speech or chewing ability
boosting the long-term health of gums and teeth
preventing long-term excessive wear or trauma of the teeth
treating an improper bite
An orthodontic treatment involves putting a wire/brackets on your teeth and regular visits (once a month mostly) for tightening/changing the wire. Each sitting takes only 10-15 minutes.
Getting your teeth checked and cleaned by a dentist is an important part of your oral hygiene routine. Besides keeping your gums and teeth healthy, your dentist can also detect problems such as gum disease or cavities, and rectify them before they worsen.
A cleaning routine usually involves two procedures: scaling and polishing.
Scaling
As we eat and drink, food and bacteria may accumulate in our teeth, which eventually becomes dental plaque. Over time, the dental plaque may calcify and harden to form tartar. While regular brushing and flossing may remove some plaque, they cannot remove tartar. It will have to be removed by a dentist via a procedure called scaling.
Scaling involves the use of a specialised instrument to loosen and remove plaque and tartar without damaging your gums and teeth.
Polishing
Usually done after scaling, polishing removes surface stains while making your teeth smooth and shiny. Your dentist will use another instrument, along with a special paste, to polish your teeth.
1.FACIAL TRAUMA
Facial trauma, also called maxillofacial trauma, is any physical trauma to the face. Facial trauma can involve soft tissue injuries such as burns, lacerations and bruises, or fractures of the facial bones such as nasal fractures and fractures of the jaw, as well as trauma such as eye injuries.
Bone fractures can involve the lower or upper jaw, palate, cheekbones and eye sockets. These injuries often occur during automobile accidents, sports or recreational activities, fights or assaults, work-related tasks, projects around the house or accidental falls.
Many patients with facial injuries are first seen in the emergency room and then referred to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or a plastic surgeon for further treatment.
OUR APPROACH TO FACIAL INJURY :
Oral surgeons, usually are involved in treating fractures in the supporting bone or replanting teeth that have been displaced or knocked out. These types of injuries are treated by splinting (stabilization is achieved by wiring or bonding teeth together).
We offer the best possible care for facial injuries in a supportive setting. Our specialists tailor each patient’s treatment plan according to the type and severity of the damage.
